An Outdated Thought

 Outdated: out of date; obsolete.

It is funny how we as humans seem to go backwards in our thinking. By that I mean for some reason we are always using our thoughts to look backwards at a time that was either happy or sad or hurtful or comfortable.

We have all experienced these times in our lives and we certainly know how they feel but when we keep going back in time to keep either feeling good or bad depending on the thoughts we are now allowing ourselves to move forward in a way that brings us a better way to live in the now.

One thing that we do when we look back at a snapshot in our memory is we usually enhance the situation whether it was good or bad. It keeps growing in ways that were probably not true but enhancing for some reason is the outcome of looking backwards. We add details that were not there, words that were not spoken, and actions that were not taken in size and significance.

  • What if we decided that we were going to give up looking to the past?
  • What if we kept the feelings of joy that we know are real from past experience and use them for today?
  • What if we let go of any hurt or anger so that happiness can fill that space in our heart?

When we hang on to what was we are not allowing what is happening today to have the impact it should for us. By letting go of anything negative from the past we can see the positive in our today.

Give yourself a break and live in the moment with all the positive things that are going on for you today to be your focus.

The Journey

The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday.”
― Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience

The journey we take is uniquely our own. No one else has the same one. It is comprised of so many things but the most important one are the choices we make.

One of  greatest choices is letting go of what was even if it was just yesterday. Looking backwards does not help us to move forward.

Each day can be beautiful if we don't get dragged down by all the yesterday's we keep revisiting.

  • What if you decided each day was a new adventure?
  • What if you let go of everything cluttering your mind from the past?
  • What if you decided to change your thought process to live in the now?

It is strictly up to you where you let your thoughts lead you. Just say to yourself "I am changing my thought process to live each day to fullest."

Are you stuck in a loop of yesterdays?

Life is moving forward are you? It is a shame if instead a person is stuck in a point of time that is behind them but they keep reliving it over and over as if they can do, be, or have it all again.

This takes such a toll on a person because there are no do overs even though through our thoughts, we try to make it so. In fact every time you revisit the past you have a tendency to make it larger than it really was.

  • What if we give ourselves a break and stop going back in time?
  • What if we let go of something that does not exist anymore and look at what does?
  • What if we look how far we have come from that point and what we have accomplished?

We are giving away precious moments of today by living in the past. Life is so short and in order to live it to the fullest we can't keep looking back or we will stumble over today without appreciating what there is in our lives to see.

There may be hurt or anger or unhappiness that we keep alive in our hearts and mind that does not help us to live a happy life. I would ask you why you would want to dwell on any of those things for a prolonged period of time as they hurt your beautiful spirit and the fact that I am sure you are seeking happiness in the here and now.

I would challenge all of you to let go of anything from your past that is keeping unhappiness alive and well in your thoughts and feelings. It is not hard to do if you decide that it was a blip on your screen of life and you are no where near where you used to be at that time in your life.

Many Blessing to All
