Change is Good for the Soul

 Most people find that change is hard but in fact it is only as hard as you make it. You get to choose what you want to change and in making that choice you move forward and help to make your life more the way you want it.

There are always things we can change about ourselves but what changes can you make that will improve who you are, where you are and what you are doing?

  • What if you changed your focus to something positive and uplifting?
  • What if you changed the way you look at a particular situation?
  • What if you changed where you are?
  • What if you changed to a more positive outlook?

When we are focused on the negative we not only feel bad but we can't move forward to anything that would help us to be happy because we aren't feeling happy but negative. This negative energy can bring you down to a level that you sometimes can't shake because one negative thought brings another and another and pretty soon you are so weighed down and unhappy it really impedes your ability to get on with life.

I challenge you to sit down and write what positive changes you can make that will help you to feel better and to move forward. 

  • Make suggestions as if it is happening already. 
  • Be sure you are centered on positive changes and be aware of how those changes would make you feel.
  • Let the positive energy  you feel while writing stay with you as an incentive to stay in this mindset.

As you are writing make a list of everything you have to be grateful for right now. What has happened for you that you appreciate. What is going right for you. Gratitude is the best way to really see what is positive in your life.

Change is truly good for the soul. When there is movement in your life, when it starts to flow, change brings a different perspective always, a fresh way to see things, a new horizon for sure.

Where is the Positive?

 

I have no explanation as to why it is human nature to focus on the negative. It is amazing to me that most people can tell you what is going wrong for them more often than what is going right. It's weird isn't it that what feels bad comes up first instead of what feels good.

This of course is a habit that many have acquired over a lifetime. It could be a learned behavior from parents or just a loop that we keep repeating over and over. 

  • What if we chose to talk about what is going right in our lives?
  • What if we made sure our conversations were upbeat and positive?
  • What if we chose to focus on feelings that bring us joy?

I would challenge you to sit down and write out what has gone right for you in the last year. If you are going to look back at all look at what turned out well for you. Start writing and look at things that turned out even better than you thought they were going to. 

  • Look for positive solutions that came to you. 
  • Look for positive relationships you made. 
  • Look for anything that brought a positive reaction for you.

By making note of these things you will find that so many positive things come to mind you wonder why you weren't noticing them when they were happening. By recognizing these positives we can be so grateful for them because they did make our life better even if we didn't see it at the time. Gratitude for all of the good that happened in our lives enhances our positive outlook.

Positive thoughts are the basis of a positive life. When we see things more positively we not only feel better but we open the door for more and more positives to come in our lives.

Make this a habit and your whole life will change for the better.

Stop Looking Back

 Happy New Year!

The best way to start a New Year is by not looking back at anytime in your life that brings you to a negative thought process, especially the last year.

You have so much power over your life just by letting go of what is behind you and to focus on what it is you want for yourself in 2026.

When we keep pivoting back to parts of our lives that bring us unhappiness or sadness we do such an injustice to our beautiful spirit. 

  • What if we let go of childhood trauma?
  • What if we let go of unhappy relationships?
  • What if we let go of what we might think of as failure?

These experiences have had life altering affects at one point on our journey but when we keep reliving them we are doing ourselves a great disservice. We are giving them permission to live in our hearts and minds and to diminish all that is positive and happy for ourselves. By keeping them alive in our thoughts and feelings we give them energy to keep invading our space of peace and joy.

Free yourself starting today using your thoughts as the foundation of a better and more satisfying way to view your life for the year ahead.

You can do this just by starting the habit of not looking back and not revisiting anything in your past that brings you unhappiness. Let your thoughts be on today and a new way to think about what you want and how you want it. Make it the most positive you can using your powerful imagination and your feelings for your greater good.

Paint the picture in your thoughts of the life you would want to live in the year ahead.

A Kind Thought

 How many times have we seen a person or a situation that the first thought about them or it was unkind?

It is a habit for most of us to be critical first of everything. We have all had to practice long and hard to become so cynical and hard. It makes for the energy around us and around everyone so unhappy.

  • What if we all decided to see one good thing about a person around us and let the criticism go?
  • What if we looked at situations with a more positive spin on them?
  • What if we broke the habit of being so cynical and unkind we heal our bruised hearts?

No one is ever happy that is critical constantly of life and everyone living in it. No person ever moves forward in a positive frame of mind by being cynical.

I challenge you all to break any habit that contains thoughts of being unkind and critical. It will make a difference in your life you won't believe.

An Outdated Thought

 Outdated: out of date; obsolete.

It is funny how we as humans seem to go backwards in our thinking. By that I mean for some reason we are always using our thoughts to look backwards at a time that was either happy or sad or hurtful or comfortable.

We have all experienced these times in our lives and we certainly know how they feel but when we keep going back in time to keep either feeling good or bad depending on the thoughts we are now allowing ourselves to move forward in a way that brings us a better way to live in the now.

One thing that we do when we look back at a snapshot in our memory is we usually enhance the situation whether it was good or bad. It keeps growing in ways that were probably not true but enhancing for some reason is the outcome of looking backwards. We add details that were not there, words that were not spoken, and actions that were not taken in size and significance. 

  • What if we decided that we were going to give up looking to the past?
  • What if we kept the feelings of joy that we know are real from past experience and use them for today?
  • What if we let go of any hurt or anger so that happiness can fill that space in our heart?

When we hang on to what was we are not allowing what is happening today to have the impact it should for us. By letting go of anything negative from the past we can see the positive in our today.

Give yourself a break and live in the moment with all the positive things that are going on for you today to be your focus.

Consideration

 Consideration: careful thought, typically over a period of time.

I think the key words here are careful thought.

How many of us take the time to think about what we are going to say before we say it? I bet if each of us would consider our words first the world might just be a better place.

  • What if we considered other people's feelings?
  • What if we took the time to think about what it might mean to someone else if we were more considerate?
  • What if we were kinder and more compassionate about people and their circumstances or lifestyle?

Life could be so much easier and much more joyful if people thought before they spoke on so many levels.

We as humans would feel better too. A person cannot feel good about themselves or their lives when they are belittling or criticizing everyone and everything. There is just no way that it can feel good to be constantly using negative words and thoughts towards others.

I would challenge everyone to make your words count for something kind, considerate, and pleasant.

Words Matter

 Word: a command, password, or signal.

Words matter. They are thoughts spoken out loud. We can use them lovingly or harshly it is our choice.

What if we made the effort to you them for kindness?

What if we made the effort to not use them in a hurtful way?

What if we used our words in gratitude and happiness?

What if we used them to point out the good in others?

These are ways to use your words in a meaningful way and because of those small changes life just became better for it.

Kindness

 Kindness: the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

It seems lately that people are complaining about everyone being rude, selfish, and inconsiderate. 

Funny that, as each of us has the ability to be friendly, kind and considerate yet we expect everyone else to be while we don't put those actions to use in our own lives.

  • What a difference it would make on our planet if we just used kind words and actions towards each other.
  • What a difference it would make within ourselves if we felt the kindness and compassion towards our fellow man. 
  • What a difference it would make if we were friendly towards each other and respected each other without question.

I would challenge you all to find kind words, a smile, and consideration towards others. It will make such a huge difference in our world and within ourselves.

Thoughts Are Leading You Where?

 Just think about the title for a moment and you will begin to realize how one thought starts you thinking about a subject and then another follows with some kind of pattern that matches the first thought and before you know it you are on a path of thought that either helps you to feel really good or really bad.

Thoughts are truly a pattern. We have so many of them streaming constantly so we are always thinking of something.

The important thing about this is how are those thoughts making you feel? This is the key to where you are at mentally and physically because with thoughts we picture everything, feel everything, so these thoughts are constantly affecting our well-being.

Be aware always of where your thoughts are taking you. Be careful to keep those thoughts the best they can be so that you control how you feel.

Just take a moment to look at where you are and how your thoughts got you to this point.

  • Are you angry and dissatisfied?
  • Are you unhappy and downhearted?
  • Are you still thinking of something that is in the past and over with?
  • Are you still blaming a person, place, or circumstance for an issue in your life?

If any of these are true I can honestly say I bet your health is suffering, your daily life is unhappy and you are not moving forward in a way that would help you.

If any of this is true I would challenge you today to change your thoughts for the better. It is most certainly a choice that you can make to reach for thoughts that are positive about yourself and your life so that your mind and body respond in a way that helps you in every aspect.

Change is good for the soul and changing your thought process to feel happy and content, to be grateful for all good things in your life, and to realize how much there is to be thankful for is a huge step forward to knowing the joy you deserve every day.

Happiness


“Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.” ― Abraham Lincoln

Happiness is not about what was but about what is right now.

The past shows us one thing about happiness we know what it feels like because we have known happy times. The problem could be that we are trying to recreate the exact situations or times from the past and that is not how it works. 

If we live in the now we can then feel the joy in so many things that are happening within us and around us. We have proven we know how to be happy from past experience but we need to focus on what is making us happy today so that we can stop looking backwards and realize that happiness is part of our now.

The tendency to find fault with our lives becomes a habit. We then start looking for things to be unhappy about when in truth there are so many things to feel good about we just bypass those for the negative.

  • What if you made the change from negative to positive ideas about your life today?
  • What if you decided to focus on what is making you happy right now?
  • What if you thought about everything today that has made you feel good?

It really is about how you are using your thoughts and how those thoughts make you feel.

I challenge everyone to stop, clear your mind, and bring at least one happy thought about today up. You will find that many more follow they just can't help it.

Self Worth

 

Feeling good enough has always been a human failing in so many ways. We live our lives comparing ours to everyone else's which really present a problem daily for most of us.

  • What if you didn't care if you weren't wealthy?
  • What if you didn't care if you fit the general description of everyone else?
  • What if you didn't fit into an exact replica of a current trend?

Let's be real here and understand that self worth comes from the inside. It comes from being happy with who you are and where you are and what you have. It comes from not trying to be someone else but being yourself and all that you are.

If we were constantly worried about making tons of money to make us important, or if we were always looking in the mirror and finding fault, or if we were worried that we weren't like everyone else, we are losing all the times we could feel happy and content.

Life is too short to try so hard to be something you are not. Let your true beautiful spirit be the guiding light for you. 

  • You know what makes you happy so do plenty of that.
  • You know what you want to do so do it.
  • You know you are not like anyone else so be yourself.

Here are a few things you can be that would make a huge difference in everyone's daily life especially your own:

  • Be kind.
  • Be funny.
  • Be compassionate.
  • Be thoughtful.
  • Be happy.       
You will find by being yourself and original you will bring into your life the people you really want to be around.

Positive Conversation


Words are just thoughts spoken out loud. If we are using our conversations as a way to feel good we have to make sure they are upbeat and positive.

We all have the need to vent at times and this does help us to feel better even though the venting is probably not the best conversation we could have. It does make a difference however if we are repeating it over and over to others. One time to vent is one thing repeating is another.

  • What if we decided to keep our conversations as positive as we could?
  • What if we found the most upbeat way to talk about a situation?

We are in control of how we think and feel about every subject there is to talk about. If we look for the best way to look at things then when we talk about them we are seeing the positive instead of the negative.

Speaking in a negative way fuels anger and unhappiness. Is this what we want for ourselves or can we turn that around by checking ourselves before we start to talk so that negativity doesn't become the habit.

  • What if we ask ourselves is this a negative thought that doesn't need to be brought up?
  • What if we challenge ourselves to do better when it comes to communicating in a positive way?

We are in charge of what we say so let's be mindful of how much we complain, how much we find fault, how much we tear down everything and everyone around us.

  • What if we thought of how to be kinder, more compassionate, and more caring?
  • What if we changed a cynical attitude for a more upbeat and positive one?

These are all possible if we put the effort into it. Imagine if you will if all of us started thinking and talking in a more upbeat and positive way. We could actually change things.

Thoughts about yourself and your life.


It is so important how we think about ourselves and our life. How we view everything really. Isn't it funny that most people don't like how they look or where they are in life when in fact the most important thing about it all is we could be happy if we allowed ourselves to be just by recognizing what we have to be grateful for.

When we find fault with our appearance or our living conditions or our occupation we are sabotaging everything good that is really going on.

What if we saw all the positives in the way we look?

We are not suppose to fit into some kind of mold that makes us look like everyone else. We are one of kind each of us so we get to look the way we do without any limitations. We only limit ourselves when we try to look and be like anyone but us. Find all of your positive attributes ......... you have them believe me. Most of all what is inside of you is far more important than what is on the outside.

What if we decided that we are content with where we live at the moment?

Finding the positive parts of where we live right now helps us to not only feel better about where we are but it also helps us to move forward knowing that things will change as they always do and we will live other places that please us even more.

What if we were grateful for having a job knowing that by appreciating being employed always brings out the best feelings about our work.

Again this is about recognizing the fact that life wouldn't be easy for us if we were unemployed. Just knowing that we have a job to go to should be enough positive thinking to be able to at least work with some peace of mind.

If we are continually unhappy about everything then we cannot open the space for happiness to come into our lives. It is all a state of mind so use your thoughts to find the positive in every aspect of your life. 

Make a list of all the things  you have to be grateful for about your appearance.......your living conditions......your job. Once you see these things in writing it makes them real and trust me once you start writing you will find more than you ever thought about to be grateful for.

Imagination


I have said this many times and everyone agrees: "If we weren't suppose to use our imagination we wouldn't have one."

It is easy to imagine anything anytime of the day. We can slip into a thought of what we would like to have or be or do and wow it is right there a vivid picture in our mind. The key is how do we use our imagination to our advantage. 

Imagination can be used two ways either positive or negative. 

It can help us to move forward with an idea or a solution that helps us to navigate in a positive ways through life. It can also be our worst enemy if we use it to picture the worst case scenario possible.

Of course you can imagine the worst things possible. You can see and feel everything in a bad and unhappy way but why would you do this to yourself when the alternative is so much better.

Once we imagine something positive it begins a thought process of possibilities. It is our mind giving us choices about what we want next on our journey. When we can picture something, when we imagine what it would be like we begin to feel good about where we are headed. When we feel good about whatever we have imagined then we feel hope. The more we imagine the better the thoughts and feelings about life become.

I would ask you to take a moment to think back on your life and remember the times when you have imagined certain instances in your life that have then happened for you. The times when you really could see and feel what you wanted and it became a reality. I know you can think of a few if you focus on it.

Imagination is like a road map if you allow it to be. You think about it you feel it and then you know the difference a positive outlook can make. This is about your bringing into your life without resistance what you want for yourself.

  • What if you used your imagination in the best possible way every day.
  • What if you trusted that you are in charge of creating beautiful thoughts for yourself and your journey?
Just think of what your energy level would be if you were using your imagination in the best possible way.

Let your imagination be creative and fun. Let it allow you the freedom to think and feel the best things about yourself and your life. Clear your mind and begin to see clearly through your imagination where you want to go ......... who you want to be.......what you want in your life.

Memory and the energy it brings.


Memories are one of the thought processes that are tricky at best.

Our memories are full of pictures of what was and how we use those pictures are so important not only to our energy but our general well-being also.

If we use them wisely we can think and feel the best case scenario possible and focus on the most positive past we can remember.

The past can be a treasure if we choose to look back and find the positive things that happened to us. There really are so many to choose from if we try to remember the good times.....the good places.....the good people.....the good things.

It is easy to look back and find what was wrong and as humans we tend to do this often.

  • What if we took the time to really take a hard look at what was right instead of what was wrong?
  • What if we focused on when in the past we were happy?

If we use our memories not so wisely we bring into our life a scenario that makes our lives a misery.

The past can haunt us if we use our memories to go back and see things only in a way that helps us remember the hurt or sadness or unhappiness we have lived through.

 If we allow it we can relive these negative times of our lives even blame our unhappiness today on those times if we choose to. But as you can see just by reading this the energy level drops to a very low point. We give life to something that is only a memory.......a time stamp if you will that can never happen again in the same way.

  • What if we let go and let those unhappy memories become a nonstarter in our thoughts?
  • What if we allow ourselves the opportunity to heal from anything in the past that still affects us just by not giving them attention?

It is up to us to choose where we want our energy to be focused. We can feel good about our lives if we choose to use our memories in a positive and upbeat way.

We can choose to not forget but to stop giving life to something that is behind us and is over. It is really a choice about living in the now in a way that brings light and love into our personal space.

It is about the choice to be vital with positive energy or to be negative and living in the past with unhappiness.

The negative effect of fear on your energy.


Fear is a negative faith. With fear the most negative thoughts and feelings become the foundation in which we navigate our life.

Fear can be a learned behavior that includes anxiety. If we have someone who has raised and nurtured us and their example was to be fearful and anxiety ridden then of course we follow along with that pattern it is human nature to do so.

If someone is telling us to be fearful of certain things in life and we follow along then fear takes the front seat of how we think and feel on certain subjects.

Fear can be all consuming and it is so detrimental to all that we are because as humans we are always looking for happiness and joy and peace for ourselves and fear is the exact opposite of all of those.

When we are fearful of anything our energy is almost nonexistent. We are frozen in a thought process that does not allow us to go forward and live a full life. 

  • What if we decided to take a look at the fear we feel and ask questions about why we feel this way?
  • What if we use the feelings of hope and faith to replace the fear we feel?
  • What if we stop allowing anyone to encourage or instigate fear within us?

Our energy is so important. It helps us to for forward and live life in a way that is happy and productive. The more positive the energy the more we can accomplish. 

By understanding that fear is a state of mind that triggers thoughts and feelings which are negative then we can go on to thinking and feeling in a more positive way.

Don't give your energy to someone else.


How often is your focus on another person and what they are doing or how they are living? How often are your thoughts on changing them to align with the way you think and feel? I am sure that you do not realize how much energy you are giving to someone else's life when in fact you could be using it for your own and helping yourself move forward in a more positive way.

Whether it is a personal relationship...... a family relationship ........ a working relationship or any other outside of yourself and your thoughts and feelings are centered on changing them or having them see life the way you do each day becomes a chore and I am sure that you can feel your energy draining away as you use your focus for someone else's life instead of your own.

When you are angry or disappointed or sad about someone else's way of thinking and living you are wasting this precious time of life when you should be concentrating on who you are and what you want in a more positive way.

  • What if you decided to let it go and focus on a more positive outlook for yourself without any other person influencing your thoughts and feelings?

By letting go of negative thoughts about any other person you then clear your mind to use thoughts about yourself and what you want for your own life.

Don't allow anyone else to have your energy......use it for yourself for your greater good. Everything will work out beautifully for you as relationships evolve just by you letting go.

Lifting your spirit by choosing your thoughts wisely.


The human condition seems to be the center of most conversations now everywhere you listen ........ look..... or read. The thing is everyone seems to be guided what to think by others about the human race and where it is headed. 

  • What if we all chose to make a difference by not plugging into all of the chaos created by others and just believe in the goodness ...... kindness..... and compassion of most people in the world. 

It is amazing that all that bad it highlighted while the good that most people do is shadowed by that.

  • What if we all chose one by one to make the world a better place by showing kindness to each other. Believe it or not a simple smile can make someone else feel better.

It is really up to all of us to make a change for the better so that change all over the world can take place. If we are angry and upset all of the time about the state of everything that energy becomes almost tangible and that makes it powerful. Why are we letting a handful of people tell us that to think and feel? Why are we following the anger and hatefulness that does not make a comfortable state of being?

  • What if we took our personal space back and started to feel better about everything just by being kinder and more compassionate towards each other?

We look to others always whether they are leaders or clergy or anyone who has a distinct voice to tell us what is going on and how to think about it. It is time now to just question why we are following instead of making up our own minds and creating a world we want to live in which means we all have to change our attitude about following and become free thinkers who use their energy for not only our own greater good but the greater good of the world.

You may think you are only one person but when one person starts thinking about how great the world would be if we all let go of anger and hatred and we decide to live lives that matter just by getting along and caring for one another there would be a change like no other and the world would be a better place to live.

Use your own thoughts to create your own energy for the better. Your energy combined with others in the quest to be your own person in a content and happy way is truly the beginning of something great.

Where is your energy today?


  • What if you start the week with your thoughts and feelings bringing your energy level where you are ready to have a positive week?
  • What if you thought about how you treated the idea of problems.

 Everyone believes they have them whether large or small. It always seems to be the habit to focus on what is wrong.......what brings us down.......what is overwhelming. If we start our week this way it opens the door to negativity which in turn brings our energy level way down and makes our daily life unhappy.

  • What if you started to focus on a solution instead of the problem? Trying to find options is so much better than worrying and being upset.

Once you start to think about solutions you will be surprised at how they sort of line up one after the other once you open that thought process.

Clear your mind completely of any stress or worry and really think about how everything will work out if done one way or the other. I am sure there will be several ways to look at it once you have taken charge of your thoughts.

Let your emotions help you with this also. When you think of a solution you feel so much better which shows you that this is definitely the direction you need to go.

Remember too all of the times things have worked out for you in the past. You will be surprised once you think about it how many times all was taken care of.

Bring your energy level up knowing that you are working to bring yourself the positive outcomes you deserve.

Remember this is for your well-being and your greater good.

How are you using your energy?

 


We are all full of energy ……..or not. It all depends on where we allow our thoughts to wander. Thinking about anything has an energy meter if you will and you know when you are in tune with the positive or attached to the negative just by the way you feel.

Using your thoughts in the most positive way brings your energy meter way up. You feel optimistic…..upbeat…..ready to live life to the fullest. When you feel this way your mind and body respond so you have a burst of energy that propels you to go forward with hope and faith.

Using them in a negative way brings your energy meter to a low point where you don’t feel good health wise or emotionally. It seems that in this day and age it is a habit to find fault to be angry to even hate. These emotions are so negative that your mind and body feel them profoundly and this negativity allows health issues……. emotional upsets……. even the ability to function properly on a daily basis.

We give power to so many things just by focusing on them. If we are unhappy, we give life to unhappiness. It surrounds us and soon we are only focusing on what we feel is wrong in our life……in our surroundings…….in people……in the world. We soon start finding fault with everything and everyone.

Where is your energy today? Make a point to feel it. Find where your thoughts are headed and how they make you feel.

If you are feeling good, terrific, find more thoughts that match where your mindset is right now.

If you aren’t then how can you stop energizing those negative thoughts and feelings?

Always remember that everything that has ever happened to you is kept alive by the energy you give it. It’s like looking at a picture and all of a sudden it becomes a video because we have given it so much of our energy. Why would we possibly want to keep energizing things that were or things that make us feel bad? We must tell ourselves that this is the now and I need to use my energy wisely for my own greater good.

If we are angry about people……. situations…….the state of anything it does us no worldly good because we are feeling our worst at these times and this is not how life is supposed to be. We are not thinking clearly about much of anything.

Find your own happy place. What do you have to be grateful for? What is going right in your life? Even if you think these are small things use your focus to feel better and you will find that you see life in a much better way. You will even start to see more to be grateful

for once you acknowledge there are things going right for you.

It is up to you to use the energy of your beautiful spirit for your own wellbeing. Be mindful of everything that is right. Be mindful that change is always a good thing even though sometimes it isn’t apparent right away. Be mindful that by creating your own happy place in your own personal space you are changing the energy that surrounds you and you are making the effort to find the best possible life you can live.
